This week, cleaners are visiting clients of cleaning companies to ask them to support their demands for ten euro per hour and a respectful treatment by their employers.
The campaign, modeled after the ‘organising’-concept that has proven successful elsewhere, was launched last Saturday. At an enthousiastic meeting at Schiphol, five hundred cleaners and their allies made it clear that they are ready to take on the multinational cleaning companies.
During the past months, organising committees have been created in Maastricht, the Hague, Utrecht and at Schiphol Airport. Immigrants’ organisations, churches, mosques, social movement groups and others have pledged their support.
A video of the campaign launch will be published at this weblog later. Campaign website, take on multinationals. In order to support the campaign, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org. Photo: Chiara Bonfiglioli
