Employers support striking undocumented workers

In France, more than 500 undocumented workers in the hotel, restaurant, construction and cleaning sectors are on strike, demanding regularisation. The strike was initiated by the CGT union on 15 April and is supported by autonomous unions CNT and Solidaires.
The action now has the support of the hotel and restaurant employers’ organisation UMIH as well. “Regularisation is the only solution”, a representative told le Monde, who estimates that it regards some 50,000 workers in the sector. General employers’ organisation Medef has so far declined to comment.
