Finnish union to support Estonian cleaners

Finnish union PAM and Estonian union Etka now offer full legal support to each other’s members (in the past, a six months’ waiting period applied). It is estimated that over 2,000 Estonians work in Finland in the services sector, mainly in cleaning, retail and catering . 560 of them are affiliated to PAM.
In order to organise Estonian workers, PAM has translated information on labour rights and participates in an information centre in Talinn (photo).
A feature of the special relationship between PAM and Etka is the tradition of local branch representatives regularly meeting each other. Such friendship cooperation is maintained, for example, by union activists in Helsinki and Tallinn, Tampere and Tartu, Turku and Paide, Seinäjoki and Pärnu, Kouvola and Rakvere, Lohja and Otepää.
