Referendum on Dutch pension agreement

FNV President Agnes Jongerius observes the printing of over one million letters to be delivered to FNV members today. The largest Dutch union federation calls on its members to participate in a referendum on the agreement on pensions reached by the union movement and employers. According to this agreement, retirement age will rise from 65 to 66 by 2020, but people may decide to retire earlier or later. The state pension will be linked to earned wages (currently it is linked to contract wages).
FNV members can speak out until 30 June. On 14 July, the results will be announced (photo: Gerard Til).
