Sodexo signs deal for fair tomatoes

This week, the Coalition of Immokalee Workers announced that Sodexo has singed an agreement to improve wages and working conditions at its Florida tomato suppliers.
The CIW is waging a prolonged campaign to make buyers of tomatoes take responsibility for problems in their supply chain. Sodexo was the last major player in the foodservice industry to sign a Fair Food agreement. “With the four largest fast-food companies -- McDonald's, Yum Brands, Burger King, and Subway -- likewise having signed Fair Food agreements with the CIW, the focus now falls squarely on the supermarket industry”, the CIW added.
The campaign now focuses on the Publix, Ahold, Kroger and Wal-Mart supermarket chains. Earlier this month, the CIW and allies held simultaneous actions at the USA and Amsterdam headquarters of Ahold.
