‘Organising will not succeed in health care’

“I don’t think organising is very successful in our sector”, Adriaan Wirtz of health care employers’ organisation Actiz said in an interview. According to Wirtz, trade union Abvakabo FNV is ‘making a bit of trouble’, but health care would not be comparable to cleaning because health care workers are higher educated, because there are no ‘problems with status’ and because job satisfaction would be high.
Over the past months, workers at health care institutions like Osira and Amsta have protested in large numbers against high workloads and lack of respect. Earlier this month, there was a large national protest meeting in Utrecht.
